The first character is finished. This sure took for-bloody-ever but I'd say it may have been worth it. The other characters should be easier now unless I choose to model a silly huge amount of extra parts. SKEY

Finally got back to making Bionicles again. This project was a crazy idea I had to make myself and a small group of me mates in Bionicle character form.
Here is what I have made so far. Note that although I had a lot of parts already, I decided to remodel all of them for a new joint system I devised just for this project. This will give me some more options when posing and more maneuverability than the regular Lego pieces. My latest model, the Wyvern Industries SWX-series Interceptor. It is a small escort fighter mainly for private security firms armed with one forward facing high RPM triple gatling cannon, electronic and IR jamming equipment. I gotta say that I'm quite happy with the design and how it turned out. Reminds me of my LEGO building days.
Can't say I have anything in mind for my next project but who knows, probably will be another spaceship. For the past two months myself and user Draise on the United 3D Artists forum had been working on the latest challenge. The challenge was teamwork, either by forming a team and building anything you like or by singlehandedly making an image with the theme of teamwork. Draise and I decided to make a spaceport, this included modeling spaceports, environments as well as the spaceport itself. This is what we came up with: Recently I've been messing around with trying to set up a Minecraft server which unfortunately isn't really possible since I posses neither the hardware nor the internet connection. This however will change the moment my apartment gets re-fitted with a proper 100 mb/s fiber optics connection. Granted that knowing how things tend to turn out here it may indeed take a while longer. I also built a racetrack map in the game Space Engineers. This is a quick video I made demonstrating the track: The racetrack can be found on the Steam workshop and was featured in a video by this YouTuber.
That's about it. Have a nice day! Alrighty then! Here is the Archer Interceptor finished. No fancy renders for this one, it will look cool though in the final image with the spaceport and the hangar. Another challenge has popped up on the 3D United Artist forums with the theme being teamwork. So me and 3DUA member Draise have teamed up in making a science fiction spaceport/outpost.
In other news, a recent update to PlanetSide 2 has added a bunch of new content to the game as well as featuring a lot of positive balance changes. Looking good for that game so far, let's hope SOE doesn't screw it up in the future.
As always, have a nice day! The NHindustries NH90 NATO Frigate Helicopter The NH90 was developed in response to NATO requirements for a battlefield helicopter that was also capable of being operated in the naval environment. The model took about a week to build. It has a fully built suspension, rotor assembly (main and aft) and a partially built interior (cockpit). These are not the final renders, or well, they are but I'm expecting there to be more. I think I will also use this model as a sort of test-dummy for future projects where I may need an extremely high geometry model to play around with.
Finally finished the scene. It was a bit of a hassle to get all of this to work together. Many exports to various programs. I tried out Bryce and Daz3D for this one. I'd say I probably made more near-final renders for this one than for any other scene I've ever made. I scrapped most of them though. Both Daz and Bryce and interesting tools to use but quite frankly the render engine in Daz Studio is terrible unless you want to create barbie-dolls and Bryce is well... Bryce. I like Bryce when I'm making a scene that Bryce agrees with. Ultimately I went back to my beloved trueSpace though. I think the scene turned out quite well and at least I got more of a say in how the render turned out than if I had made it in say Daz or Bryce. Back story:
"She heard them screaming. Her people being dragged out of their homes. Maiva picked up her bow and moved towards the door, she pushed it aside. Outside she could see the attackers, dressed in black, like shades they moved though the darkness of the night. Torches illuminated the camp enough for her to see groups of her people gathered outside their huts. Her people resisted, using their natural strength to throw the attackers aside. They were struck down by weapons of light. Flashes from darkness. She scanned the village with her night eyes. Two shades were moving towards her hut. She moved back inside, while kneeling behind the center pillar she placed one arrow beside her and put another on the string of her bow. The door was pushed open completely, a dark silhouette with a glowing eye was visible. She waited for both sets of footsteps to resonate among the clay walls. She took a step to the right, bow raised. One of the shades turned towards her, her arrow sticking out of his chest. She moved back behind the pillar picking up the second arrow, put it on the string and pulled it back. Maiva took one step to left, the second shade had raised the circular device in his hands to eye height. It was glowing faintly. He was standing behind the body of his companion. His upper body turned towards her. The arrow was still in mid air when the flash of light shattered the center pillar, it missed. Maiva was knocked back, her bow fell. The ground started shaking and a painfully sharp noise could be heard. The eye of the shade looked towards the entrance, then focused on her. She grabbed her bow as the shade raised his glowing weapon. The shade slowly moved towards the door while keeping his one eye fixed on Maiva. She rolled behind the fireplace pulled an arrow from her quiver and put it on the string. The door shut and the shade discharged his weapon breaking the wall of the hut. The clay shattered, pieces of brick were falling from the ceiling. Maiva looked up as the shade fired another bolt at the top of the door. The front of the hut collapsed. Piece by piece the ceiling started falling and Maiva was forced backwards. She pulled back a cloth revealing a small window. She kicked it repeatedly until the clay started crumbling. Once she had made and opening large enough she squeezed through as the heavy brick ceiling collapsed completely. Now free and readying another arrow she moved from bush to bush and closer to the sound. Shaking the ground a large unnatural shape lifted from behind the trees in a shroud of light. The glowing shape turned towards the moons on the horizon. It flashed, Maiva closed her eyes. When she opened them the lights were far away on the horizon, moving east. Maiva put the arrow back in her quiver and the bow over her shoulder. She looked through her village for her people but could not find a single soul. From among the empty huts she looked east. Then she started walking. Determined to find her people. Maiva brushed a tear from her cheek. Moving quietly through the night. She was quick. When the moon was high in the night sky, the swamps that were her lands gave way for an open landscape. Further than this few had gone. It was home to dangerous animals and deadly traps of natural terrain. These were the marshes." Here is another project I started for the United 3D Artists monthly modeling challenge.
The challenge is to build a scene and a character with a unique look and a fantasy and/or science fiction style. This is my character so far. She is as good as finished now, just have to paint her clothes so they get a more realistic texture and then I am going to move onto making the scene. I bought Minecraft a few months ago but had not done anything huge with it yet. This however has now changed. My first big Minecraft project, the town of Calouri: Now back to doing 3D in a 3D program.
